Named "one of the best villas in the world" by Islands magazine, August 2010
On a stunning promontory, once the site of an old stone fort, sits a remarkable Premier home named Fortlands Point. From its breathtaking location on the tip of the peninsula, the commanding view encompasses the turquoise water of Discovery Bay on one side and the deep blue Caribbean Sea on the other. The views are simply magnificent. The clear buoyant water and adjacent reefs are a paradise for snorkelers and divers. Just a few feet from the point, the protected reefs are a colorful coral world of Jackfish, Parrot Fish, Wrass, and Sergeant Majors. The stereophonic sound of waves lapping the coral and beaches lulls guests to sleep each night.
Textures of teak, cedar, Italian tile, and Persian rugs complement the dramatic architecture. With families in mind, seven bedrooms (including two specifically for children) have been thoughtfully designed on individual split levels. The comfortable verandah is complete with a black granite bar, ice maker, and television. Sunset cocktail hours here drift into leisurely long dinners under the stars in any of five open-air dining areas. Inside is the formal dining room with a 100-year-old 12' mahogany heirloom table. As a special treat, the staff will serve dinner on the very point itself, followed by a seaside bonfire if you wish ~ evenings to treasure and remember.
Seven old cannons dot the three-acre grounds. The adjacent mirrored fitness room includes a universal weight machine and elliptical cycle in a breezy space with a wonderful view of the sea.
Child-friendly, Fortlands Point offers two complimentary porta cribs, one high chair, and games for children (and adults too). The DSS satellite television system includes Disney and other children's programming. In the yard are two swings, one set of rings, a slide, and a mini-tree house.

The water activities available included snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boards (picture Huck Finn circa 2013), aluminum boat and infinity pool. Discovery Bay is home to a myriad of marine life including sea turtles and the deck at the point was the perfect place to see fish without getting wet.
This was the 6th villa vacation that my husband and I have taken and we have high expectations for accommodations and service. While we enjoy great meals, we do not expect gourmet fare at every meal and especially with a large group. We determined that buffet style worked best for our group.
Overall, the vacation was superb due to the attentiveness and courtesy of the staff who went above and beyond our expectations over and over again.
Patrick provided amazing and substantial meals, appetizers, snacks, breakfast pastries, homemade cookies and fruit breads and my favorite villa treat, homemade plantain chips. Patrick's food budgeting prowess was overwhelming and I was impressed that he shopped for groceries as if he was spending his own money. Kudos to Patrick for coming in substantially under budget and meeting all of our dietary needs. (OK, no one really NEEDS to have eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, banana bread, muffins, toast, waffles and fruit at every breakfast, but some of our group apparently do.)
Keno, Kemeel and Sean provided some of the best service we have ever experienced and ensured that every need was met. They are all superstars and time and time again did much more than required. Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation we extend to them. To Keno who was always there (including fishing at 5:30 am), providing first aid, serving drinks, kayaking with Ben, fixing coffee makers, and ensuring the health and safety of all, you are an exceptional young man and set an amazing example for the rest of the staff. I am so glad that you participated in the zip lining adventure and officially joined the family. Sometimes it's good to take that leap of faith and just jump ("with every broken bone I swear I lived")
Kemeel quickly and effectively dealt with a few minor issues and provided so many special services and touches that were unexpected and appreciated (you are an amazing seamstress!). Your courtesy, sense of humor and personality made our stay exceptional.
Sean provided amazing service with enthusiasm, good humor and was willing to do anything for us, including providing "protection services". Three of our group decided to walk down to a local bar on our last afternoon. They would have been perfectly safe on their own, but Sean accompanied them and enjoyed a ginger ale while they were there. In addition, Keno and Delano (our excellent hired driver) also passed by in the van to ensure all was all, and in all honesty, see if any of them needed a ride back to the villa.
Thank you to all of the staff for all of the extras, including towel origami on the beds, flowers in the towels, doing our laundry, serving drinks, hauling firewood for the bonfire, meals in the gazebo, barbecues at the picnic tables, dinner on the point and too many services to mention.
Once again, a huge thank you to Sharon at Villas by Linda Smith. The services you extend are superb!

Little touches, like the rail to assist getting into the sea at the little cove, made a huge difference to Michael and me! He was able to get in and out without help and it was the first time he had been able to swim safely in the sea for years!
Ricardo and Sean did so much to make our stay so wonderful as did all the other staff.
We are really hoping one day, to make a return visit!

The whole downstairs is open to the outside so you always feel you are in the fresh air.
The bedrooms don’t disappoint either with comfortable beds and soft linens. Each bedroom has a fabulous bathroom. One bathroom has a tub that was great for our two year old grandson. The new entertainment area with pool table and huge TV was great for movies in the evenings. We all fit on the huge, plush sectional.
The beach with the cove was exceptional with a large shallow area for children and a swimming platform to jump from for everyone. The reef just outside the cove was so much fun for snorkeling. We made use of all three beaches. Every morning the beach and lawn were groomed for any seaweed , leaves, etc.
The staff has the perfect balance between service and respecting your privacy. Simply tell them your expectations and they will meet them. Once they realized we enjoyed snacks with cocktails before dinner, they magically appeared. We enjoyed three delicious meals for five days plus snacks for under the recommended budget. I don’t think you can beat that anywhere.
At the end of the day you would return to your bedroom to find your bed turned down, AC running, drapes drawn and a thermos of ice cold water by your bedside. All areas were kept immaculate. And coming home with clean laundry was a real treat.
Thanks to Linda Smith Villas for arranging everything from transportation to our wonderful spa day with Oshun spa. We are family that travels extensively and rarely repeat experiences but everyone agreed this was one property we would like to make a family tradition.
