True to its name, Tranquillity on the Beach is a place for relaxing into the calm ambiance of an exquisite home on a beautiful beachfront site ~ while being gently pampered by a competent staff.

The well-appointed rooms of Tranquillity stretch over 5,200 square feet of rich marble floors. Artful landscaping ensures year-round flowers in bloom which in turn ensure regular visits from hummingbirds and parrots. The grounds resemble a private park dotted with mango, guava, banana, plantain, lime, soursop, apple and papaya trees.

The entrance draws you past an indoor waterfall garden as you approach the spacious Great Room which opens to an 86' furnished verandah. Meals are served by the butler on the verandah overlooking two acres of landscaped grounds and the sea ~ or in the inside formal dining room ~ or, as a special treat, in the romantic waterfront gazebo by candlelight. On calm nights, two or three local fishermen may ease through the water beyond the gazebo carrying torches and laying nets for the fresh catch they will deliver to your chef the next morning. The overall ambiance is quite beautiful.

Two large master suites are privately located in a wing on the east end of the villa. Two smaller bedrooms are beyond the living room on the west end of the villa. The fifth bedroom and a smaller sixth bedroom most suitable for children are in the Beach Cottage across the lawn on the water’s edge. All bedrooms are air-conditioned. The state-of-the-art kitchen in the main house includes a 6-burner Vulcan gas stove, microwave and double fridge with icemaker.

Meals here merit special attention. Chef Danny has extensive experience in a number of cuisines including Italian, Spanish and Jamaican. He received his formal training in Italy and has been Head Chef at several of Montego Bay's better restaurants. Danny's experience and creativity, as well as his willingness to create menus to suit special requests, make the culinary part of everyone’s stay at Tranquillity something to savor. Tranquillity shares a basketball hoop and private tennis court with neighboring Serenity on the Beach (bring racquets and balls). Combining Serenity and Tranquillity creates a 10-bedroom compound with 2 pools, tennis court, long beachfront and staff of 10. Beyond Tranquility is our glamorous neighbor, Noble House on the Beach, which accommodates 8 or 10 more guests. This 8-acre beachfront compound is a favorite for weddings and family reunions. All 3 villas are child friendly and very private from each other.

100 yards offshore is Holden's Reef, a continuation of the barrier reef complex that fronts much of Jamaica's north coast. Easily reachable by kayak, this live reef is home to a myriad of tropical fish and corals. At low tide, portions protrude above the water so you can step from your kayak to snorkel in shallow water. On the ocean side, deeper waters beckon the more adventurous or scuba equipped.

If you’ve left your pets behind, be advised that Tranquillity is home to our friendly dogs. They are not permitted in the house or on the verandah. They spend days in the yard and on the beach and the staff cares for them. If you enjoy them, they’ll run with you on the beach and romp with you in the sea. They are gentle, well-behaved and love guests.

Accommodations

Master Bedroom 1
Kingsize 4-poster bed.  New suite added in 2009.  Flat screen cable television.  4 pairs of mahogany French doors to verandah. Modern en-suite bathroom features handsome gray and tan tile open shower with twin rain forest shower jets.  Just steps from the pool.

Master Bedroom 2
Kingsize bed in a high-ceilinged 400-square-foot suite with flat screen cable television. En-suite bathroom has bathtub plus separate walk-in shower. French doors open to private furnished verandah.  3 steps down and path to pool, gazebo and beach.

Bedroom 3
Optional kingsize or twin beds.  en-suite bathroom with double vanity, walk-in shower and wonderful second very private shower in outdoor walled garden. French doors open from bedroom to verandah.

Bedroom 4
Optional kingsize or twin beds; en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. French doors to private patio, grounds and tennis court.

Beach Cottage
Bedrooms 5 & 6
Designed as the owners’ private quarters, this is an exquisite 2-story cottage right next to the sea. Downstairs are the living room, kitchen with microwave, VCR and cable television, sound system, small extra bedroom with with queensize bed, hall bathroom and walk-in shower. The lower level opens to a private terrace on the edge of the beach where meals are served if only the Beach Cottage is occupied. (If more than two guests are in residence, all meals are served on the main house verandah, although eye-opener coffee and fruit may be served at the Beach Cottage.) Upstairs are the kingsize bedroom, over-the-beach balcony with lounges for sunning or star-gazing, and large en-suite marble bath with oversize walk-in shower.

Round Hill Hotel and Beach Club Membership

A special amenity available to guests in this villa is membership at Round Hill ... just one minute from the villa and one of the finest private resorts on Jamaica's North Coast. Membership entitles guests to access Round Hill's private beach and tennis on hard-surface courts lit for night play and with pro on call. (Charges apply to lessons and ball boys.) Round Hill also offers a jogging trail, gift shop, logo shop, beach bar, piano bar, Continental cuisine in the hotel restaurant ... and unforgettable long sunsets from the waterfront terrace. For additional charges, members may enjoy the spa, Pineapple Kids Club, fitness center, a range of water sports and parties (Monday beach party, Wednesday Manager's Cocktail Party, Friday Jamaica Night). Round Hill has an annual closure - for 2012 Round Hill will be closed between September 4 - October 9.

The Tryall Club Membership

A significant amenity for guests in this villa is membership at the excellent Tryall Club.  On 2,200 acres, Tryall’s golf course is among the most beautiful in the world.  Its 18 hillside and seaside fairways have been home to the Johnnie Walker, Mazda and other PGA championship events.  The resident pro offers workshops and private lessons.   The Tryall tennis club features nine Nova Cushion courts, some lit for night play, with world-class pro’s on call.  All whites required. 

The beach is well planned for parents and children. Have lunch at the beach bar.  Work out in the well-equipped gym.  Jog the marked trails. Snorkeling, kayaking, hobie cat and sunfish are complimentary.  Glass bottom boats, charter fishing, a boat to the reef and any captained craft attract various fees.  Enjoy the week’s events, including the Monday Night Manager’s Cocktail Party and the Wednesday and Friday night beach parties (Friday Seafood Night on the Beach Buffet is excellent).

On the hill, enjoy the historic Great House for afternoon tea and a magnificent view from the terrace.  Shop at the commissary and boutique, meet for happy hour at the bar, and browse a wealth of Jamaican, Haitian and Cuban works and souvenirs in the Gallery of West Indian Art.  And don’t miss the massive Tryall pool!

Tryall Club Temporary Membership Fee

Tryall is a private club whose members may use most Club facilities at no charge with the exception of golf, food and beverage, and spa services. Complimentary amenities include the beach, most water sports, tennis, the excellent gym, the Hummingbird Kids Club, Great House afternoon tea, the Manager's Cocktail Party and various special events.

The Tryall Club requires all villa and condo guests to become members during their stay via a Temporary Membership Fee of US$100 per week for each guest 18 or older, or US$20 per day per person for stays of less than 7 days.

Plan to pay your Temporary Membership Fee locally at the Front Desk in the Great House when you register. Credit cards are accepted. You will be given a temporary membership card to enable your access to all Club facilities.
