Noble House is a unique architectural gem by the sea.  Its design is a series of airy pavilions with peaked roofs, its living spaces separated by water gardens and bridges. Indoor spaces flow into outdoor with Oriental grace. Rooms are walled by tall mahogany French doors that open to private porches. Bedrooms are air conditioned. Ceiling fans are throughout.

The 6,000-square-foot main pavilion consists of the Great Room with 56 glass doors and massive wrap-around verandah on floors of gleaming white Jamaican marble. Outside the Great Room, a Japanese footbridge arches over a reflecting pool to the formal dining room. Like the Great Room, the dining room has wrap-around glass doors that open to the mesmerizing panorama of gardens and ocean view. Adjacent are a full bar and powder room.

Meals here merit special attention. The Noble House cook has completed the Villas by Linda Smith Gourmet Cuisine Course and earned the chef’s emblem. Breakfasts cooked to order are served on the main verandah overlooking the groomed gardens and sea just beyond. Lunches are served by the pool or beach or on the shaded verandah. Dinners for special celebrations can be served in the formal dining room under an elegant crystal chandelier or less formally on the open-air verandah.

Throughout the villa is a collection of art and antiques gathered by Broadway Billy Rose and later acquired by the original homeowner, the late New York tycoon Sol Atlas ... including a drop-leaf tavern table c. 1700, a hand-carved livery cupboard c. 1640, carvings from Indian temple chariots and a 19th Century grandfather clock.

Noble House shares eight acres on the sea with Serenity and Tranquillity Villas. Combining these 3 homes creates a 14-bedroom compound with 3 pools, tennis court, long beachfront and staff of 18. This remarkable waterfront trio is a favorite for weddings and family reunions. All 3 villas are child friendly and very private from each other.

100 yards offshore is Holden's Reef, a continuation of the barrier reef complex that fronts much of Jamaica's north coast. Easily reachable by kayak, this live reef is home to a myriad of tropical fish and corals. At low tide, portions protrude above the water so you can step from your kayak to snorkel in shallow water. On the ocean side, deeper waters beckon the more adventurous or scuba equipped.

If you've left your own pets at home while you take a vacation, be advised that Noble House has two playful jet black puppies.  They romp on the lawn and beach and cool off in the sea.  Duke and Duchess do not come into the house.  The staff makes best effort to keep them off the verandah despite conflicting encouragement from certain puppy-loving guests.

Membership entitles guests to access Round Hill's private beach and tennis on hard-surface courts lit for night play and with pro on call. (Charges apply to lessons and ball boys.) Round Hill also offers a jogging trail, gift shop, logo shop, beach bar, piano bar, Continental cuisine in the hotel restaurant ... and unforgettable long sunsets from the waterfront terrace. The Tryall Club Membership

A significant amenity for guests in this villa is membership at the excellent Tryall Club.  On 2,200 acres, Tryall’s golf course is among the most beautiful in the world.  Its 18 hillside and seaside fairways have been home to the Johnnie Walker, Mazda and other PGA championship events.  The resident pro offers workshops and private lessons.   The Tryall tennis club features nine Nova Cushion courts, some lit for night play, with world-class pro’s on call.  All whites required.

The beach is well planned for parents and children. Have lunch at the beach bar.  Work out in the well-equipped gym.  Jog the marked trails. Snorkeling, kayaking, hobie cat and sunfish are complimentary.  Glass bottom boats, charter fishing, a boat to the reef and any captained craft attract various fees.  Enjoy the week’s events, including the Monday Night Manager’s Cocktail Party and the Wednesday and Friday night beach parties (Friday Seafood Night on the Beach Buffet is excellent).

On the hill, enjoy the historic Great House for afternoon tea and a magnificent view from the terrace.  Shop at the commissary and boutique, meet for happy hour at the bar, and browse a wealth of Jamaican, Haitian and Cuban works and souvenirs in the Gallery of West Indian Art.  And don’t miss the massive Tryall pool!

For a great write-up of the Tryall Club, see Dana Vachon's article Club Jamaica in Departures Magazine.

House was the most beautiful and perfect setting for our wedding!

Shawn S., Vancouver Canada, Feb 2009

  • Dear Linda,

I want you to know how wonderful our stay was at Noble House.

My husband and I got married there on JUL 12 and our guests stayed at Serenity,

Tranquillity and Summertime. First, I want to compliment the staff, Maxie,

Ionie, Bertie and Joy were like family by the time we left. While we were there one of our guests became ill and the staff was amazing in dealing with this. Initially, we thought it might be uncomfortable to have people cater to us, but the staff made us feel welcome as if we were in our own home.

Second, I want to compliment our wedding coordinator Nicky Farquharson. She did an amazing job arranging the perfect wedding for a couple she only knew via emails and one phone call. Nicky is awesome and she made our day so beautiful and perfect!! We are so pleased we went with the villa wedding/vacation over the hotel/resort stay. We will return to Jamaica and will only stay in one of your villas. So, thank you for everything.

    comfortable and top notch.

  • Dear Linda,

Noble House was amazing. It would be hard to imagine a more luxurious villa. Aside from the delicious food, our driver Capel was the highlight of our trip. He became a part of our family and we were amazed at how generous and warm he was.

I am so glad I got to experience Noble House!

    Matt K., April 2008

House staff! We had a wonderful vacation!

  • Dear Linda,

Joy and Maxie are extra special. Joy's cooking was better than the majority of restaurants we have been to. Maxie is the best guide we could have had. All the staff exceeded our expectations! They are all wonderful,

nice and professional and as a whole they work together seamlessly. We couldn't have asked for as better staff. The grounds are just spectacular. The beach is amazing and just perfect for the children. The pool was great as well.

We couldn't tell you what we enjoyed the most but we know we never wanted to leave. The staff made this a very relaxing and special family vacation!

Helen P., Rosslyn Heights NY, Feb 2008
