Built in 1993, Tradewinds is an impressive Colonial-style private villa
situated on a lush hillside over the first fairway of the Half Moon golf
course. Significant is Tradewinds dramatic panorama of the Caribbean
Sea. The view is exquisite The entrance opens to a lovely long hallway adorned with art and antiques.
Four air-conditioned bedrooms, each with A stairway leads from the entrance hall to the lower level, featuring a large living room, air-conditioned dining room and open-air verandah. Of special note is the baby grand piano in the living room, reputed to have been played by Noel Coward when he entertained friends. Glass-paned doors open from all downstairs rooms to the 1,600-square-foot columned verandah (everyones favorite gathering place) with grand view, wet bar, games table and outdoor shaded dining area. Beyond the bar is the private pool. Wonderful home-cooked meals typically are served on the expansive al fresco verandah. Just steps beyond through a bougainvillea-draped pergola are the refreshing private pool and sundeck. For the safety of young children, the pool area can be gated. Tradewinds offers a complimentary baby crib. The air-conditioned kitchen features a six-burner stove, microwave, fridge, freezer and icemaker. The villa is furnished throughout to a high standard of good taste. Trees bearing grapefruit, tangerine, breadfruit, oranges, bananas and limes dot the lush tropical garden. (The gardener keeps a generous supply of fresh limes at the bar.) Bougainvillea, hibiscus, red ginger and palms adorn the perimeter of the property. Three resorts and golf courses are five minutes down the hill by car. Half Moon has a lively shopping village, designer shops, English pub, bars, restaurants, water sports, golf, tennis and excellent medical facility. The Ritz Carlton has superb shops, restaurants and challenging world-class golf course, the White Witch. The Wyndham Rose Hall Resort & Country Club offers excellent Cinnamon Hill golf course (by the architect who designed White Witch). Colorful Montego Bay, the hip strip and wonderful Doctors Cave Beach with gym/sauna, water sports and Groovy Grouper restaurant are just 20 minutes west. Ten minutes east is Rose Hall Beach with windsurfing, sailfish, glass bottom boat, jet skis, diving and snorkeling, beach volleyball, bar and restaurant, and sunset cruises. Resort activities attract various fees.
