From each bungalow, a stone pathway leads to individual sunning areas by the sea, each made private by natural coral formations. Here you will find chaises and exhilarating seaside showers. Ladders step down five feet directly into the water which is deep, clear and excellent for swimming and snorkeling. Bring kickboards, snorkeling gear and sunscreen! The view of the sea and the long western sunset from the seafront here are truly breathtaking ... equaled only by the brilliant display of stars that follows as dusk eases into night.

The bungalows are octagons. On all sides, natural cedar louvers can be positioned variously for privacy and airflow. Sea Grape and Wild Grape have cable television with 10 movie channels, ESPN and CNN. Each bungalow has a stereo system (bring CD’s), hammock, ceiling fans throughout, a waterbed and an outside shower (hot and cold water), as well as full baths inside. In total, the compound has 6 outdoor showers ... two of which are waterfront and wonderful for bathing by the sea under the sun, moon or stars. Furnishings are colorful; exposed rafter-and-beam ceilings are high. Big Grape is behind Wild Grape and therefore has a limited ocean view. In all bungalows, however, the feeling is rustic and wonderful.

Each morning an eye-opener service of hot coffee and toast is quietly placed on your private verandah. On request, the manager and cook, Juicy, will shop for lunch or dinner groceries, cook in the service kitchen and serve you on your verandah. (He’s a good cook!) If you prefer to cook in, each bungalow has a kitchenette with refrigerator, cooktop, pots, pans and dishware. Whether you decide to eat inside or out, apply your mosquito repellent at dusk since this is the tropics and living spaces are open-air.

Your housekeeper will do daily housekeeping and laundry. She can schedule a masseuse to come to your bungalow. She and Juicy are always at hand just down the path, yet respectful of your privacy.

Some of Negril's best restaurants (all small and very casual) are within walking distance of the Sea Grape compound. Scuba diving facilities are just steps away at the next-door hotel. Negril’s famous white sand Seven Mile Beach is five minutes away by taxi (25 beautiful minutes by boat) and is lovely to visit for walks, water sports and sand castles, but it is rather public compared to the privacy of SeaGrape. The Craft Market is also just five minutes driving time away. Car rental is not necessary as an abundance of inexpensive taxis is always available just outside the Sea Grape gate.

NOTE: The Sea Grape compound represents a departure from the rest of our portfolio as it is less glamorous in interior design, does not have a swimming pool (only an ocean!) or as large a staff. This is more rustic and casual than our typical villas. However, we recommend it sincerely for a laid-back, playful vacation in an unpretentious bungalow.
