The LOBSTER TRAP Authentic Jamaican ultra-casual spot. Outdoor tables piled high with charcoal-grilled
lobster -- on the edge of the beach in Hopewell between Tryall and Round Hill. Do call for reservations 783-5046. Do not dress up.
MARGUERITES Good restaurant over the water on Gloucester Ave (the Hip Strip). Formal dining room with excellent (pricey) menu. Flambé lobster, shrimp, fish and desserts. The PORK PIT You can't leave Jamaica without consuming jerk pork, jerk chicken (spicy or mild) and Wonder Bread. East of town is SCOTCHIE’S, reputed to have the best jerk on the island. Jerk pork, fish, chicken and breadfruit.
RITZ CARLTON HOTEL JASMINES is considered by some to be one of the best restaurants in Montego Bay, world-class
cuisine blending Asian and Jamaican specialties. Excellent and pricey. Also HORIZONS and MANGOES
in the Ritz.
The WHITE WITCH restaurant high up on the golf course serves a good lunch that comes with a breathtaking view.
ROUND HILL HOTEL Good and pricey. Al-fresco dining by the sea for lunch and dinner. Also, piano bar and entertainment

VALRIE‘S For authentic Jamaican food prepared by Valrie herself, try this small roadside eatery in Sandy Bay
(2 miles west of Tryall). Plastic utensils, plates heaped high, inexpensive, an occasional puppy in the car park, locals' favorite). Breakfast, lunch and dinner ~ but call first to be sure she’s open. 953 5048.

AN EXCELLENT IDEA ~ On departure day, take your luggage to the airport and check in early to avoid the crowd. 
Then go back into Montego Bay for a good last lunch at Margueritaville (request an outside table over the sea) or the Groovy Grouper on Doctor's Cave Beach.  Return to the airport (inexpensive 5-minute taxi ride) just in time to board your flight.

While it is suggested that gentleman wear long pants at most of the recommended restaurants in the evenings, casual dress is acceptable.  Coats and ties are neither required nor appropriate except during Christmas and New Year's weeks.  Check dress code when you call for reservations.
