Doctor’s Cave

Tiled changing rooms are immaculate and offer inside and outside showers. Water sports are available for reasonable fees and three 20’ water trampolines are free. The Groovy Grouper Bar & Grill is a short walk across the sand. The open-air snack bar sells patties and burgers. Admittance fee is $5 and all services (beach umbrellas, canvas sling chairs, floats) are $5 or less. Take towels from your villa or rent towels for $3. Snorkel equipment and jet skis cost more. For souvenir shopping, the lively “hip strip” is just outside the gate.
In 1906, Dr. McCatty donated his beach property to found a bathing club in Montego Bay. The Club got its name because it was used by Dr. McCatty and his friends, mainly medical professionals who believed in its healing waters. At that time they entered the tiny beach through a cave. The crystal clear water has a temperature range winter and summer from 78 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit, 22 to 28 Celsius. Doctor’s Cave Beach was named one of the “best family beaches in the Caribbean” by Caribbean Travel & Life.
